Thursday December 4, Harold Jackson and Ashley Blevins traveled to the State Capitol in Austin to compete in the new UIL debate contest – Congressional Debate. There were six preliminary chambers with up to 30 students in each. The top 4 students from each room were selected to be in the “super final” round, with the 5^th – 8^th place speakers going to a “consolation chamber.” Ashley Blevins participated in the top finals chamber, and Harold Jackson competed in the consolation chamber, making both students among the top 48 in the state.
