Texas Association of Future Educators (TAFE) traveled to Region 8 to compete in the Area Competition on Friday, Dec. 3rd at Pittsburg High School. In this competition, students participate in service based projects, prefrom speeches, and create lesson plans. Junior Keziah Knight was elected as AREA PRESIDENT, becoming the first student in Chapel Hill history that has held this position. In addition to this, 25 other TAFE members advanced to the State. Members competed in multiple categories and advanced in each.

“On December 3rd at the area competition I gave a speech to a panel of judges and was asked many questions regarding leadership and my role as an officer elect,” said Knight. ” The election was ultimately decided upon after this interview by the judges and Area 6 Coordinator.”

State Qualifiers include Elexy Gomez, Alan Mondragon, Brian Arreola, Megan Rhea, Dakotah Haltom, LaDamion Thompson, Hatseva Argote, Katelyn Chavez, Deziree Kissam, Darby Conner, Katelyn Chavez, Vicky Tavarez, Keziah Knight, Wesley Wilt, Hillary Crist, Zachary Sustaire, Jared Sanchez, Anthony Nguyen, David Renteria, Gabriel Hill, Andrea Medina, Taniya Crumpton, Iris Leonardo, Kaylie Renteria, Kiera McCall, Dakota Bonner, and Adrian Mumphrey.

The State Competition will be held in March where these CTE students hope to advance to Nationals for the second year in a row.
