Art students win at Day of the Dead contest

The” Dia de Los Muertos” winners were announced Monday, Nov. 1st at the 2nd Annual “Day of The Dead” Contest and Art Exhibition sponsored by the President of the Hispanic Professionals of Tyler and by Southside Bank on Thursday, Oct. 28th. Chapel Hill art teacher, Kimberly Taylor had four of the Top Five winners as they competed alongside Tyler ISD and TK Gorman students.

Chapel Hill winners include 9th grader Katelyn Chavez, 10th grader Robin Mejia, 11th grader Kayla Brooks, and 12th grader Emily Marmon.

“We are so impressed with all of the pieces submitted. Thank you for allowing your students to share their artwork with us all,” said Alma Dear, HPAT Volunteer Committee Co-Chair. “We look forward to bringing their prizes and look forward to planning next year’s event.”

The exhibit is displayed in the downtown Tyler Southside Bank of the Fine Arts Museum.
