FFA fares at Fair

FFA members competed at the East Texas State Fair on Friday, Sept. 24th under the direction of sponsors Laura Bennett and Dallas Shively.
D’Lyssa Acker placed 1st in her class with her heifer Noel and placed 2nd with Star. Hayden Acker, and his heifer Sweet Pea, placed 8th in class while his heifer, Honey, placed 5th. Kyleigh Duckett, and her Shorthorn heifer RB, placed 3rd in class. Brianna Humes, and her Santa Gertrudis heifer Rosebud, placed 4th in class. Madison Smith placed 1st in her class with her heifer Patsy; she also won Reserve Grand Champion Charolais with her heifer Brianna. Alejandro Martinez placed 5th in class with his Beefmaster heifer Dreamcatcher and3rd in class with his Brangus heifer Indy. Brianna Crawford placed 6th, in her class, with her Shorthorn plus heifer Dixie. Brady Williams placed 1st in class with his Limousin heifer, June, while Travis Williams placed 1st in class with his Maine Anjou heifer Bella.
“FFA students like me hard work and have determination through showing our livestock animals,” Crawford said. “We learn responsibility by feeding our animals everyday. Having to work with them, daily, we learn what it means to take care of them and them ready for shows.”
The FFA members will travel to Longview’s Harvest Festival, on October 30th, where they will compete in their next heifer show.
