Choir places at All Region
October 1, 2021
Choir members competed in the 2021-22 Choir All Region auditions on Saturday, Sept. 25 under the direction of choir director Leah Brown at Whitehouse High School.
Each singer performed prepared repertoire and sight-read in a blind audition for five judges. The top 25 sopranos and altos were selected in addition to the top 15 tenors and basses. Eight of the nine all region members have advanced to Pre-Area and will compete for a spot at the final round in hopes of joining the All-State Ensemble.
Advancing Sopranos included Madeline Williams 3rd chair and Khaiya Drawhorn 6th chair. Advancing Tenors included Jo-Kovin Campbell 2nd chair, David Renteria 7th chair, and Damarion Manier 9th chair. Advancing Basses included Kristian Harris 1st chair, Jeffrey Hernandez 7th chair, Juan Guzman 9th chair, and Emery Crayton 13th chair.
“I’m extremely proud of these young men and women,” Brown said. “These students worked hard and are continuing to put in extra time for the next round of auditions in November.”
The choir members will travel to the All Region Clinic and Concert next. It will be held on Saturday, Nov. 13th at Carthage High School.
