UIL Journalism produces State Champion

May 4, 2021
After advancing at Regionals on April 17th and earning ‘2nd Runner Up Journalism Team’ in the UIL Journalism Conference 4A Region, senior Katherine Adams competed in two Journalism events under the coaching of teacher Jessica Otte. Due to COVID, the State Competition was held on Saturday, May 1st at the substitute location of the TISD Career and Technology Center in Tyler rather than Austin’s University of Texas.
“I am so proud of how hard Katherine has worked in every Journalism UIL contest this year,” said Otte. “She excels in everything she does and I am very blessed to get to be a part of her journey.”
Adams placed 1st in the State for Feature Writing and 4th in the State for Editorial Writing. She won Chapel Hill the title of ‘3rd Runner Up Journalism Team’ in the UIL Journalism Conference 4A State.
“I’m very thankful to be able to bring a 1st place win back for Chapel Hill,” said Adams. “It’s a great way to finish out my time in high school.”
