After placing 4th overall in the District, 18 track members advanced to the Regional Meet which was held at A&M Commerce on Friday, April 23rd under Coaches Aaron Steele and Craig McFarlin.

Regional Boys included Jahade’ Adams, Jayden Belcher, Izaya Brooks, Emery Crayton, Ja’Kerrion Davis, Cameron Kelley, Solomon MacFoy, Mason Mumphrey, Samuel Ovideo, Da’Veon Ross, and Daniel Waddelton.

Davis, Belcher, Ross and MacFoy placed 4th in the 4×200 relay and advanced to Finals. Oviedo personal best time of 2:10 in 800 meter dash. Mumphrey personal best of 149 ‘ 7″ placing 5th in shot-put. Brooks, Waddleton, MacFoy, and Kelley personal best of 3:34 in the mile relay. Crayton finished 5th in the 3200 meter run… 2 miles in 9:54

“This track season was hard, but my team and I stuck together and we were able to go further than Chapel Hill has in a while,” Waddleton said. “Although Regionals was tough, we look forward to going to State next year.”

Regional Girls included Angelina Acosta, Kya Cook, Ariyanna Lynch, Treasure Massenburge, Ja’Kiyah Miner, Shyla Starks, and Alexis Woods.

Starks finished 5th in Triple Jump advancing to Finals. Cook placed 5th and qualified for finals in the 400 meter dash where she got a personal time of 60.03.

“This season showed me I can do more than I thought I could do and I realized that to be successful, it’s all mental ,” Cook said. “Regionals had a lot of competition, but my team and I held our own.”

Girls Athletics Boot Camp begins Monday, April 26th and Boys will begin ‘Edge’ workouts in the summer.
