The second District Powerlifting meet was hosted at home on Thursday, Feb. 4th in the weight room, under the direction of Coach Charlie Coker, against Henderson and Mineola.

Competitors included Jalan Lofters, Jayden Ponder, Trey Hudson, Jeffrey Reazin, Pablo Martinez, Corey Johnson, Ellijah Sierra, Nicholas Rodriguez, Nik Moody, Joshua Hermanns, Chase White, Daniel Cabrera, Kendalynn Suell, Bailey Aynesworth, Taniya Crumpton, Brooklyn McGee, Julia Fults, Jakayla Mumphrey, Mersaydez Lewis, Brendaly Velasquez, Frances Adams, and Madison Bradshaw.

White placed 1st in his 123 weight class, Hermanns placed 3rd in his 132 weight class,  and Moody placed 1st in his 148 weight class,

“I’ve been preparing for this meet for a while, with a mindset of winning 1st place. When the competition showed up, I began to feel nervous,” Lofters said. “I had to calm myself down and remember what my coaches taught me about adversity. With my coaches by my side, I pushed myself and placed 2nd.”

The boys will compete again, at Whitehouse High School, on Thursday, Feb. 25th under the direction of new coach, Johnny Irvin.
