Choir students competed in the UIL Region Solo and Ensemble competition today at Whitehouse High School under the leadership of Choir Director Robert Boren.

Jo-Kovin Campbell, David Renteria, Kristian Harris, Imani Muse, Khiaya Drawhorn, Kaylee McGaughy, and Madeline Williams all earned First Divisions and advanced to State.

“It was very nerve-racking and it was so scary, but I was really happy when I got a one,” McGaughey said. “I’m pretty excited to visit Austin with my friends and compete at that level.”

All students earned a “Superior” Rating on their Class I solos meaning all seven students received a gold medal and advanced.

“I’m so thankful for the support of our staff and their help in holding these students to a high standard in everything that they do,” said Boren. “It makes my job easy.”

The State contest will be held June 1st and will take place in Austin, Texas.
