January 20, 2021
CTE Culinary students catered a handmade meal for School Board Appreciation Month at the January 19th school board meeting under the direction of Chef Christian Chavanne.
The students prepared tomato basil soup with basil pesto cream, spinach salad with hot bacon dressing, beef bourguignon, parsley potatoes, carrots with dill and orange, chocolate mousse. In addition students, faculty, and staff presented cards, posters, gifts, and homemade pies to honor school board members.
“All the time and thought that was put into every single thing on display in the boardroom that night was so much more than anyone could have expected,” Superintendent Lamond Dean said. “The CTE culinary meal was fantastic. The giving spirit was witnessed firsthand and is appreciated more than words can express. The students and employees of CHISD are, without doubt, the best in East Texas.”
Also the high school Teacher of the Month was recognized as science teacher Natalie McCord as well as the high school employee of the month, Nurse Patricia Mitchell.
“The mindful way that the theme of “Navigating to Success” was put into many items shows just how clever CHISD individuals really are,” Dean said. “The meal prepared and served by our Culinary students was one of the finest meal experiences we have ever had the pleasure of enjoying together as a board.”
The next school board meeting will be on Monday, Feb. 15th as they spotlight the Kissam Intermediate campus.
