Cheerleaders make history

The Chapel Hill Cheer Program competed in the UIL Spirit State Championship at the Fort Worth Convention Center for the first time in Chapel Hill history on Friday, Jan. 15th. Cheer sponsors are Kaston Kincade and Crystal Binning.

Competitors included Kristen Rivers, Mikaylie Borel, Jo-Kovin Campbell, Bryce Gilpin, Laci Hackett, Shalya Lewis, Kortlyn Hayley, Diondrea Walker, Maddie Autin, Dakota Bonner, Becca Westerman, Madie Bradshaw, Kailee Smith, Beonka Lewis, Abby Prinz , Peyton Scott, Shyla Starks, Landry Binning, Kelci Bowens, Mersaydez Lewis, Kiyah Miner, and SaRyiah Henderson.

The cheer program placed 27th out of 61 Division 4A teams in the state of Texas.

“We put our all out there on the mat”, said junior Maddie Autin. “It took a lot of practice, time, and dedication; but, we went out and put everything into it”.

Following a final competition, cheer will begin their sign-ups (in the front office) with the tryout clinic, in March, as the 2021-2022 squad is selected.
