Student Senate organizes Shoes for Kids every year where all campuses raise money for elementary students to go purchase new shoes and have pizza with high school students. This tradition has taken place at Chapel Hill for 22 years.

This year, Student Senate and community members raised $11,000 and took 150 Wise, Jackson, and Kissam elementary students to the Shoe Department at the mall, CiCi’s for lunch, and then to Discovery Science Center for the afternoon. The field trip days were last Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday where some students were able to go to the movies to see newly released “The Croods 2”. High school students were paired with elementary students for each day as they helped them pick out shoes and play games.

“Our Chapel Hill High School students are representing our school so well,” said Steele. “They are loving on these kids during this Shoes for Kids week.”

Senate members will also work together with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes organization as they provide gifts for their annual Angel Tree this December.
