‘Young Farmers’ brings home champions

FFA members competed at the Quitman Young Farmers Livestock Show on Saturday, Oct. 17th under the direction of sponsor Kenneth Carnes.

Senior Sydnie Murrell won Brangus Breed Champion with ‘Royal’. Seniors Ashlynn Smith won Reserve Brangus Breed Champion with ‘Jolene’ and 1st in Class with’ Adalida’ while Dillon Line won 1st in Class with his Simbrah Heifer. Junior Alejandro Martinez won 5th in Class with his Beefmaster Heifer.

“This is was the first time I was able to show Adalida,” said Smith. “It was kind of chaotic, but we had fun through all of it and she has improved tremendously since Saturday.”

In addition, FFA member sophomore Travis Williams also competed at the Jacksonville FFA Showdown on Saturday. Williams won 2nd in Class in both rings at the Jacksonville show with both of his heifers.

Students will show again at the Harvest Festival which will be held in Henderson on Saturday, Oct 24th.
