TAFE State qualifers competed in the 36th Annual “Teach Tomorrow” Summit which was held at McAllen Convention Center, Feb. 20th -22th, under the sponsorship of teacher Lori Center. Texas Association of Future Educators Blue Ribbon winners received 90-100 points for their projects. Red Ribbons received 80-89 points, and White Ribbons received 70-79 points.

“I couldn’t be more proud of this group of students for advancing to State. I hope they built lifelong friendships and a passion for learning throughout this experience,” said Center. “We were voted as the Region 7 President School for the 2020-2021 school year.”

Clarissa Young and Holly Walton won a blue ribbon for their Chapter Yearbook. Darby Conner and Megan Rhea won a blue ribbon for their Elementary Interactive Bulletin Board. Keziah Knight and Holly Walton won a blue ribbon for their Middle School Interactive Bulletin Board. Alejandro Martinez and Natalie Martinez won a blue ribbon for their High School Interactive Bulletin Board. Katie Grace Ibarra and Jyovanni Robles won a blue ribbon for their Project Visualize on Educational Awareness. Stacey Leon and Natalie Martinez won a blue ribbon for their Project Visualize on Service. Steven Metcalf and Jesus Perez won a blue ribbon for their Project Visualize on Teaching. Ladonovan Walton and Kinsey Ponder won a blue ribbon for their Elementary Teacher Created Materials. Stacey Leon and Susie Torres won a blue ribbon for their High School Teacher Created Materials. Sydney Brown and Yurid Hererra won a red ribbon for their High School Interactive Bulletin Board. Kelsy Benitez won a white ribbon for her Elementary Teacher Created Materials. Katie Grace Ibarra won a white ribbon for her High School Teacher Created Materials.

“This was a very exciting experience, especially since it was my first year to go to State,” said Torres. “Overall, being in TAFE has given me the chance to meet new people and achieve leadership skills.”

State qualifiers will be recognized at the annual CTE Awards Banquet which will be held on Thursday, April 30th.
