Area band tryouts were held at the high school on Saturday, Jan. 11^th under the leadership of Band Director Joseph Hewitt where 11 students participated in hopes of earning a spot in the All-State Band.

Roni Railsback made the All-State Band for the first time as a 1st Chair Percussionist Madison Parker, made the All-State Band for the third time as a 1st Chair Trumpet player, and Sydney McElroy made the All-State Band for the second time as a 1st Chair Tuba player.

“We also had multiple students, who are only sophomores, miss making the State cut by 3 chairs or less,” said Hewitt. “I am very thankful to everyone who had a hand in preparing these students on such a momentous day.”

All-State members will travel to San Antonio to play in the TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) All-State Band performance in February.
