Band advances to Area

Bulldog Band members competed at Henderson High School on Saturday, Dec. 14th under the leadership of Band Directors Joseph Hewitt and Nick Kelley. 21 students placed in the Region 21 All-Region Band, and 10 have qualified advancing to Area.
Symphonic Band members advanced to Area including Sidney McElroy who earned 1st chair for tuba, Keilah Knight who earned 5th chair for flute, Analise Flores who earned 7th chair in French horn, and Katelynn Carter who earned 13th chair for clarinet. For trumpet, Madison Parker earned 1st chair, Jose Cerda earned 4th chair, and Jensen Higginbotham earned 6th chair.
“I’m very grateful for this opportunity and I was able to see how hard work can pay off,” said Cerda. “I’m excited to work even harder for the next step.”
For percussion, Roni Railsback earned 1st chair and Chris Beal earned 3rd chair in Symphonic Band as well while Trevon James earned 1st chair in Concert Band also advancing to Area.
“I am so happy for these students, said percussion band director Nick Kelley. “They have taken the initiative and have owned this entire process. I am so very proud of them.”
They will compete in Area here at Chapel Hill on Saturday, Jan. 18th in hopes of advancing to the State level.
