Grand Champion heifer gives birth

FFA members traveled to the Quitman Pavillion to compete in Quitman’s Young Farmers Livestock Show on Saturday, Oct. 12th where the Beef Heifer Show Team left with a newborn bull calf, ribbons, and four buckles. On that same day Sydnie Murrell’s heifer, Missy, gave birth prematurely where Missy won Grand Champion in Alba Golden’s Jackpot Show.

Quitman winners included Murrell who earned Reserve, Dillon Line who earned Breed Champion, Dalton Line who earned Reserve, Amber Lee who earned Reserve,  Hannah Ritchie who earned 1st place, Ashlynn Smith who earned 3rd place, Kara Pinkerton who earned Breed Champion, and Cassie Barnett who earned Breed Champion.

“It was an awesome day,” said FFA Sponsor Kenneth Carnes. “Sydnie worked hard. I am so excited for her.”

FFA members will compete at the Jacksonville FFA Jackpot Show on Saturday, Oct 19th and then to the “At The Cross Classic” show sponsored by the Trial to Christ Cowboy Church on Saturday, Nov. 2nd.
