Vocal Solo and Ensemble receives Superior Ratings

Varsity choir competed at the UIL Texas Solo and Ensemble on February 11. The contest was held at Whitehouse High School against area East Texas schools under the leadership of Choir Director, Robert Boren.

Freshmen competitors where Frances Adams, Alanah Wynn, Kristian Harris, Bernardino Gonzalez, Bernardino, and Kaylee McGaughey. Upperclassmen competitors were sophomore Lauren Combest, juniors Ruben Renteria and Maria Wilkins, and seniors Taylor Strange and Eddie Jones.

Adams, Combest, Harris, Jones, Renteria, and Wynn received Superior Ratings and advcanced to State.

“I am so proud of myself and the other students who competed,” said Jones. “I am beyond excited to go to State with my friends.”

A Super Rating means students received a score of 1 out of 5 which was the best score possible.

“I am very excited for our students advancing to State”, said Boren. “They put in a lot of hard work and represented Chapel Hill so well.”

Students will travel to Phlugerville, Texas for the State competition in June.
