The Tennis Team, under the coaching of Robert Sampson, competed against area schools such as John Tyler, Robert E. Lee, Whitehouse, Forney, and Jacksonville.

Juniors Roni Railsback and Sidney McElroy placed 2nd in mixed doubles. After their first set of 4-6, they came back with a win of 7-5 in their second set. Railsback and McElroy played a 10-point tiebreaker to decide the champion of the match that ended up in 2nd place. McKenzie Ibarra and Tristan Larsen played in the Consolation Championship and won their second match.

“It was a tough day but very fulfilling,” said McElroy. “We learned a lot competing against schools with highly established tennis programs. It showed us how hard we have to work in order to be successful.”

The Tennis Team will compete again on Monday, March 25 when they host a tournament against Tatum and Troup in preparation for District which will be in April.
