Fishing teams hook first place over all

The Bass Club competed in the Lake Tyler Tournament on Saturday, March 16. The three teams (Taylor Strange and Carter Binning , Max Richardson and Glenn Smith, & Brady and Casey Johnston) caught 42.3 pounds of fish between the six of them while the competing schools had six or more teams.
Binning and Strange received 1st place and Strange caught the biggest fish of the day weighing in at 9.1 pounds. Smith and Richardson received 3rd place and Smith’s largest catch was 7.5 pounds.
“It was a great day on the lake”, said Strange. “I was ecstatic to catch such a big bass in a tournament that size.”
In addition to advancing to Regionals, as a school, the three teams won the tournament overall receiving a trophy, cash prizes, and scholarships.
The THSBA Regional Tournament will be held at Lake Palestine on Saturday, April 13 where all teams hope to advance to the State tournament May 11-12 on Cedar Creek Lake.
