Powerlifting advances to State

Powerlifter girls competed at the Regional competition on Saturday, March 1 which was held at Fairfield High School. Senior Ke’Shona Berry placed 7th in her division and Amie Nguyen placed 7th in hers. Junior Angela Daniels placed 3rd in her class and Haleigh Rolling placed 7th in hers. The powerlifter boys competed at their Regional competition on Friday, March 8 which was held at Malakoff High School. Senior Khristion Little placed 1st in his 242 division and qualified for the State competition. Angel Barroso placed 3rd in his 123 weight division. Junior Michael Sutton placed 5th in his 275 weight class.
“I am proud of all my lifters and how hard they worked towards their goals in hoping to qualify for Regionals,” said Coach Trey Ledbetter. “I am extremely excited for Khristion because his goal was to qualify for State and now he has the ability to possibly win the 242 class in Division 2. I know he can do it if he keeps his focus and keeps working hard leading up to the meet.”
Little will travel with Ledbetter to compete at State on Saturday, March 22. The meet will be held at the Abilene Taylor Expo Center.
