Technology Student Association (TSA) traveled with sponsor Ben Dieter, for regional officer tryouts at Pine Springs Baptist Camp, on Oct. 17th, in Laneville.

Local officers in attendance were President Kate Harris, Vice President Blain Broyles, Secretary Keilah Knight, Treasurer Alexia Morales, Sergeant at Arms Manuel Greenlee, and Historian Angelina Acosta.

“After consulting with Mr. Dieter, we started the process of getting the required information for me to become a TSA regional officer”, said Harris. “It was mandatory to get two teacher recommendation letters and fill out why I thought I was best fit for the position. I have been apart of TSA for five years now and I’m excited to see what this (competition) year has in store for us.”

President, Harris was trying out for the Regional Treasurer Officer position. There were six other TSA candidates from surrounding East Texas high schools. After giving an impromptu speech, officers were elected after their peers voted and decided based on years of service, additional organizations, and character qualities of each potential officer.

“The students represented Chapel Hill really well,” said Dieter. “They learned a lot about leadership.”
