On July 30, the Chapel Hill Band placed 6th and 11th place out of 15 pieces at the Outstanding Performance Series (OPS) under the direction of Joseph Hewitt. The recordings of these songs were submitted back in May. They advanced from Region to Area, and then on to state in San Antonio.

“Two of the 15 pieces that qualified for State were only practiced for four weeks prior,”said Hewitt. “We have some great things happening at Chapel Hill, and I wouldn’t want to be anywhere else.”

Our songs were going up against some of the premier band organizations across the state of Texas. It was the first time in the history of Chapel Hill for both our middle school and our high school to be represented at the state level.

“As Drum Major,” said senior Abigail Robertson, “I couldn’t be more excited to see where our band goes next.”

The Band will compete at Stephen F. Austin University for their marching competition on October 20th.
