Highlighters drill team competed at the ADTS Galveston Island Dance Festival, Saturday, March 3rd under the leadership of Directors Katie Hewitt and Chalease Denson.

The Highlighters were awarded Academic Champions, Divison 1 Rating, Gussie Nell Davis Award of Excellence, Judges Award Team Novelty, Judges Award Team Pom, Judges Award Team Hip Hop, Platinum Best Overall Award, Best in Class Medium Team, and 2nd runner-up for Best of the Best Award.

“This was one of my proudest moments as a Highlighter”, said junior Hailey Ray. “It was amazing seeing all of our hard work finally pay off”.

Officers were awarded Division 1 rating, Gussie Nell Davis Award of Excellence, Judges Award Officer Novelty, Judges Award Officer Lyrical, Judges Award Officer Contemporary, Best Overall Precision, and 1st runner-up for Best In Class.

Up next, the drill team will show off their competition routines for the Chapel Hill community in their annual Spring Show, “Firsts”, late April.
