On February 17,  the Bass Club competed in the Lake of the Pines Fishing Tournament. Four teams enter the competition, and out of 122 teams that fished the tournament, only 73 teams weighed in fish.

Derick Beard and Brady Johnston weighed in two fish for 3.63 pounds and placed 50th overall.

“It may have been a tough day”, said Johnston, “but with tough concentration, we made it happen”.

Glenn Smith and Max Richardson weighed in one fish for 1.96 pounds and placed 66th overall.

“Although conditions were cool and rainy, these guys tried their best and did well”, said sponsor Joy Johnston. “I am so proud of each of them.”

Both of these two teams are still in the race to advance to the Regional tournament at Toledo Bend in April. They will first have to conquer Lake Palestine on March 17th. Austin Savering and Quintan Carr are not completely out of the running if they can bring in a heavy sack at Lake Palestine.
