The Texas Army National Guard and the Texas High School Coaches Association have announced the 2017-18 Academic All-State Teams. They selected eight members of the Chapel Hill High School football team to be a part of the Academic All-State Team.
Will Lyles was named Academic All-State 1st Team, and Adrian Berry was named Academic All-State 2nd Team along with Michael Murphy, and Carson Rudd. Bobby Dawson, Josh Lee, Kaine Perkins, and Gerardo Sandoval received Academic All-State Honorable Mention .
“I feel humble, and honored to be apart of this with my other fellow teammates”, said Berry.
To be nominated a student must have an overall GPA of 92 or above. The THSCA considers each students’ GPA, class rank, SAT and/or ACT score. The students receive points based on each criteria. The total number of points they receive determines which team they are placed on.
“We are proud of these young men,” said Athletic Director, Jason Hooker.
