Choir students traveled to Hallsville High School on Thursday, Nov 16 to compete in the Texas Music Educator’s Association Pre-Area Region 21 competition. The contest is part of the All State process, and only has 5 students out of 20 per part qualify to advance to the next level. Out of the 6 students who represented the school, Mariah Higginbotham, Eddie Jones, and Caleb Otte qualified and are advancing to the Area competition.

Otte, Tenor 2, received 1st chair as well as a sight reading score of 58 out of a possible 60. Jones, Tenor 1, received 5th chair. Higginbotham, Alto 2, received 5th chair. Kendale Johnson, Bass 1, received 8th chair. Samantha Sibal, Soprano 1, received 9th chair.

“I am thrilled because this is my last chance to score big at Area and possibly sing in the All State Choir for my senior year,” said Higginbotham.

Qualifiers will travel with Director, Vincent Flieder to the TMEA Area competition on Jan 13th at Midway High School in Waco.
