Bulldogs brawl in playoffs

After beating Kilgore on Senior Night, Oct 17th, the varsity volleyball team advanced to the first round of District Playoffs by winning 3 of the 5 games, under the coaching of Linda Godwin and Catherine Ripka . The Bulldogs battled again for the 3rd time on Tues, Oct 24th in hopes of earning 4th place in the District.

Varsity members include (senior) Hannah Richardson. (juniors) Lakeyvia Hill, Starla Starks, Lakeya Overshown, Valencia Miles, Nicole Galinda, Maddy Wages. (sophomores) Dametria Kilgore, Kate Harris. (freshmen) Kamryn Wages, Hannah Clements, and Amaya Hammond.

“I am very proud of the hard work they put in and for their accomplishments”, said Godwin.

After losing Playoff Game 1, Chapel Hill Bulldogs nearly tied in Playoff Game 2, but came up short in the final game putting in an end to their district season.

“We were proud to make it to playoffs and we fought hard”, said Hill. “We are ready for next season because we are all returning except for the one senior. I know we have potential to get further into the playoffs next year.”

Players who were announced to the 2017 4A all-district team were Hannah Richardson for Most Valuable Hitter, and Maddi Wages for Most valuable Setter, Kamryn Wages for 1st Team All-District, Lakeya Overshown for 2nd Team All-District, Dametria Kilgore for 2nd Team All-District, Lakeyvia Hill for Honorable Mention, Nicole Galindo for Honorable Mention. The Academic All District were Starla Starks, Maddi Wages, Hannah Richardson, Kamryn Wages, Nicole Galindo, Hannah Clements, Valencia Miles, Dametria Kilgore, Janea Travier and Kate Harris.
