Acosta advances to Regionals

The Cross Country team competed at the District Meet in Gilmer Wednesday,  Oct 11th.

The Varsity girls finished in 4th, JV in 5th, and the Varsity boys also finished in 5th.

Runners include Jorge Gonzalez, Armando Sanchez, Isaac Hernandez, Gadiel Leon, Vicente Mendez, Alex Minor, Angelina Acosta, Perla Sanchez, Kassidy Mumphrey, Haydee Gutierez, Jailen Perez, and Karlea Duhon.

“I was very excited that I advanced, but I really could not have done it without the support of my teammates”, said Acosta. “I might not advance to State, but I’m grateful for the opportunity to run at Regionals and to see what will be in store for me next year.”

Gonzalez finished 11th overall while Acosta finished 9th overall which advanced her to meet, in Arlington, on Monday, Oct 23rd. Running a time of 12:55, she placed 34th out of 181 Regional runners in the UIL Region II Regional Cross Country Meet.

“This is a great end to a fantastic season for Angelina ” , said Durham.

Acosta will run Varsity Track in the spring and will resume summer runs for next year’s Cross Country Season.
