Lewis to compete at State

The academic debate team competed in a preliminary round at the Westwood Baptist Church on November 8th, 2016.
If the team passed the preliminary round, they could go to finals, which determined if they advanced, and after finals is the state competition. The top 6 that competed received medals, and the top 3 advanced.
Alesha Lewis was the third place congressional debate winner 4A region 7, which means she not only passed the preliminary rounds, but she advanced from finals. Lewis is now qualified for the state meet that will take place in Austin, Texas at UT Austin on January 9-11th.

Congratulations Alesha! I am really proud and excited for you to represent CHISD at the state competition in January. It’s really great to hear you are having a lot of fun participating on the Academic Debate Team. What a great way to start the new year, good luck!
