FFA students competed at the East Texas State Fair, last week, in the Plant ID contest. Amanda Lewis, Kelsey Griffith, Kaitlyn King, Jessica King, Brittany Andersen, Trenton Granberry, Roni Railsback, Gavin Jackson, and Courtney Jacobs participated, by identifying plants based on provided information.

“Both teams did very well even though they did not place in the top three East Texas teams”, said teacher Jenna Rios.

In addition, Ag teacher, Steven Bryand, entered students to show their heifers. Sisters, Kara and Reese Pinkerton presented their Angus Heifer in the Junior division as well as the Open Heifer division,and placed, alongside their peers.

“They [the Pinkerton girls]  placed at the top of their respective class,” said Bryand, “and they did great.”
