The Chapel Hill band program made history this year. The symphonic band competed at the Regional UIL Concert and Sight Reading competition Thursday, April 28 and the concert band competed Tuesday, April 26 at Troup High School. For the first time in the district’s entire history, all bands that went to contest earned the Sweepstakes Trophy. The 7th grade band (under the direction of Nick Kelley), the 8th grade band (under the direction of Weston Fisher), the high school Concert band (under the direction of Marlena Phillips), and the high school Symphonic band (under the direction of Joseph Hewitt) all received a Superior Rating. “This is a huge and very rare accomplishment for a band program.” said Hewitt.
