Pre-Area competition of the Texas All State Choir competition was held at Hallsville High School on Thursday, Nov. 19th. Out of 65 schools, seven Chapel Hill students competed and five of them placed in the top five chairs of their divisions. Caleb Otte received 2nd Chair in the Tenor I division, Maya Reazin received 2nd Chair in the Alto I division, Hanna Vale received 3rd Chair in the Soprano I division, Trevor Massenburge received 4th Chair in the Bass I division, and Karyme Renteria received 5th Chair in the Alto I division. Only two other schools placed as high as Chapel Hill High School.8 Students Who Had Already Placed are Mariah Higginbotham Montel Hood and,Jazmin Gonzalez.Dr.Ward recently received confirmation that 3 of our students who were placed as alternates have been called up as well to compete! 3 Alternates Who Were Called Up:Christian Davis,Eddie Jones,and Hannah Mayfield.This places 11 students who will compete at Area; making us the highest ranked school in our region insofar as how many kids will compete at Area, and is over 5 times the amount of students we’ve ever had make it in one year at Chapel Hill.These students will compete in January at the Area competition, in hopes of moving on to the All State final round.
