Freshman, Savannah Divine, individually raised over $100 in the Shoes For Kids fundraiser which benefits elementary students in the district. During Homecoming week, high school students raised approximately $7,700. Seniors won the traditional day out of school since they raised the most money, as a class. They will get to enjoy that reward at a later date in the semester. Wise Elementary also raised money during their “Penny Drive”.  Shoes For Kids originated in 1996. Libby Bloodsworth and Courtney Bell wanted to help students within the community, so they thought of a way to offer free brand new shoes to children right before Christmas time. They began Shoes for Kids which is now an annual fundraiser allowing kids to pick out shoes on a fun field trip day to Payless Shoe Store. Later this semester, Student Senate members will be able to take the elementary kids shoe shopping. They will then enjoy lunch at CiCi’s Pizza while ending their day exploring at Discovery Science Place. The trip is solely payed by the money accumulated from this one fundraiser.
