Junior, Maya Reazin, was awarded first place at Friday’s “Chapel Hill’s Got Talent” after covering a version of “Hallelujah” while being accompanied by peer and guitarist, Caleb Otte. 19 students from across the district came and performed in front of family and friends. Ella Bagwell, from Wise Elementary, tap danced her way to second place while the middle school “Pretenders” received the third place trophy for acting a scene from a fairy tale play. The middle school theater group, calling themselves “Twisted Thicket”, portrayed the future life events of fairy tale characters. After auditions, the final high school acts consisted of Isis De La Garza performing a martial arts form, Gavin Shepard singing ” Little things” , Carlos Flores playing the electric guitar, Diamond Spikes singing “I’d Rather be Blind”, Nakima Browning and Victoria Kinney dancing a hip-hop routine, Bobby Green covering “At last”, and Cruz Vargas rapping with original lyrics. Finishing up the contest were Maddy Chavez, Taylor Hudson, and Kendoll Pitts dancing a jazz-funk routine as well as Caleb Otte performing an original worship song.
